University of Tokyo Global Health Leadership Program Implemented “manaba”

“manaba” a cloud-based collaborative learning system developed and managed by ASAHI Net, Inc. was implemented by a graduate program at a leading national university, University of Tokyo.

Under the sponsorship of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo (Tokyo, Japan) launched the Global Health Leadership Program (GHLP) in 2010. GHLP is a graduate program for students and working professionals who aspire to pursue career in global health and develop their leadership skills. The program is conducted in English and gathers participants with diverse national backgrounds.

Through manaba, the program coordinators will distribute reading materials and resources for the intensive lecture series offered by world leading experts in the field participating from University of Tokyo, Harvard University, WHO and UNDP. The notes from the problem solving and communication training sessions will be stored in manaba for students’ future reflection. All students will stay connected through the platform during their required three-month-long internship participation in international organizations, think tanks, and NPOs, and will be sharing the journal, experiential notes, and photographs collected from their on-the-ground experiences. Lastly, GHLP will offer attentive career counseling and personal coaching, and will be maintaining the records of their conversation on manaba to assure the continuous support.

GHLP is currently seeking student applicants who are interested in the program for year 2012.
